Fishing Report

The late spring and early summer fishing on the southern west coast of Vancouver Island started with exciting and plentiful results. Swell Time has been out on the water every day working all the gear to keep up with full days of maxed out fishing. Spring salmon are plentiful in the 20 lb range with a few bigger springs being landed in the 30-40lb range. Salmon Fishing is consistent and thrilling as usual along the beach as well as off shore. Out on Swiftsure Bank, the Halibut fishing has been excellent with most fish landed in the 30-50 lb range with a few hauled into the boat between 70 – 100 lbs. Swell Time has set the crab traps on every trip and been overwhelmed at the consistency and quality of the crabbing. The large and hard shelled Dungeness Crabs are filling the traps making a heavy haul up to the boat. The weather, tides, fishing and wildlife sightings have provided an fantastic start to the summer experience on the west coast.
